The Housing Assignment process for returning students happens in three parts:
Fall 2024 Housing Assignment Sessions: All returning students who want to go through the housing assignment process are invited to attend one of the Fall 2024 Housing Assignment sessions. The sessions will provide you with critical information about the selection dates and process and will be recorded. .
Register For Housing Assignment. Priority registration is open until 5:00 p.m. on Friday, March 8. Registration is required for all returning students who want to complete the housing assignment process. To register for the housing selection process, click the . When you register, you also acknowledge that you understand and agree to the cancellation fee. 
Room Selection. After you have completed your registration by the priority deadline, you will receive an email the week of April 8, assigning you a time block for Room Selection. Room Selection begins the week of April 15.
Three-Year Residency Requirement
As a reminder, ÌÇÐÄSwag has a three-year residency requirement (6 fall and spring semesters). Transfer students must live in college housing until they have completed six full fall and spring semesters; previous enrollment at other institutions counts toward fulfilling this requirement.
Rising Seniors & Students Who Have Fulfilled the Residency Requirement
The college does not guarantee housing for rising seniors (Class of 2025) or students that have fulfilled the residency requirement, although we try to accommodate these students if there is capacity. The capacity depends on the number of rising sophomores and juniors who register for housing.

Registration for Fall Housing Assignment
Registration is required for all returning students who want to go through the housing assignment process.
Registration is open and closes at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 30, 2024. The priority deadline is March 8, 2024, at 5:00 p.m. All students that complete housing registration by the priority deadline will receive a time block for room selection. Please, be sure to register as soon as possible.
Do I have to register for Fall 2024 Housing Assignment Selection?
Yes. Registration allows Residence Life to know who wants to live on campus. It will enable us to know your needs and interests and plan accordingly to house our current and incoming students. Students who register by the deadline will be able to enter their housing preferences and roommate groups.
What happens once I register?
Once registration period ends, you will receive information about your time block to log in for Room Selection Night.
The week of March 18, eRezLife uses a lottery system to assign each student a sign-in time. The email will include the date and time you can log into the system to select your room and roommates for the Fall 2024 - Spring 2025 school year. Students will be able to see the open spaces each night.
For example, the Class of 2089 has 150 members to sign up for housing, the system randomly assigns each person a time beginning at 6:00 p.m. The first 1-20 will start at 6:00 p.m., and then the next 21-40 will begin at 6:15 p.m. This goes on until all members are assigned a time. The housing portal closes at 9:00 p.m. each evening. Those in the Class of 2089 are unable access the system after their selection day has closed. This process is done for each class.
Students that register by the priority deadline (5:00 p.m., Friday, March 8, 2024) will select rooms April 15 – 23, 2024.
What happens if I register after the priority deadline?
Students that register after March 8 at 5:00 p.m. and before March 30 at 5:00 p.m., will be given the last available selection time. This means you will not select housing with your class year. You will select a room on April 24. You will still be able to join a roommate group at any time during the room selection process.
Housing registration closes on March 30 at 5:00 p.m. The portal will not re-open. Students that fail to register by March 30, 2024, and have not fulfilled the residency requirement, will be assigned a room by the Office of Residence Life.
What happens if I register, and then I change my mind?
Only rising seniors and students who have fulfilled their residency requirement can cancel their registration. There is a housing cancellation fee.

What happens if I do not register for housing?
Students that fail to register by March 30, 2024, and have not fulfilled the residency requirement, will be assigned a room by the Office of Residence Life. Students will not be released from their residency requirement.

Room Selection
Once you have completed your registration, you will receive an email the week of March 18 with your time block for Room Selection. That is the time block you log in and select your roommate and room. Room Selection nights are held by class year April 15 - 23 (larger classes may need two days). Students that register after March 8, are assigned a selection time on April 24.
Class Selection Order
Class Selection Order will be announced after the priority deadline. Students will be notified of class selection dates the week of March 11.

Roommate Groups
You must set up your roommate group before your selection time. Roommate groups are required in order to select must-fill spaces as well as spaces that are not traditional style singles. You must create your roommate groups ahead of time.
That means, if a space is a must-fill double, you must have a roommate group of two to select that open space. As another example, in a nine-person townhouse, which is not must-fill, your roommate group of four may fill four of the spaces, and you will have five random suitemates.
You may also need multiple roommate groups for your plan A, B and C! If you are selected to a roommate group of four, eRezLife will not allow you to select a two-person space. As a result, you may need to set up roommate groups of 4+ and then also a group of two in case the size space you want is no longer available during your selection time. If you need to split into a roommate group of two, you will simply select your backup group of two and then pick the double room.
If you are interested in being assigned to a single room for the upcoming academic semester but are unable to select one during the housing selection process, you are welcome to join the . Completing this form does not guarantee a single room.
Students Studying Abroad
Students approved to Study Abroad or Away in the Fall 2024 semester, must participate in the room selection process. If you decide to study abroad, you must complete the Housing Cancellation Form to cancel your Fall housing on or before 5:00 p.m., July 1, 2024. You will not be charged a cancellation fee. The Office of Residence Life will arrange your Spring 2025 housing, and students will be notified in November 2024 before your return to campus.
Residence Life will assign students to their Spring housing assignment based on availability. You are welcome to request to live with specific residents when you complete your housing application, but this assignment will be based on current availability in November 2024.
Resident Assistant (RA) Spaces
All current RAs must participate in the Housing Assignment process. If you are not selected to be an RA or not returning to be an RA for the 2024 – 2025 academic year, you must participate in the Housing Assignment Process. They will be included with their class. New RAs (East Village and West Village) will select their apartment-mates. RAs must provide roommates’ names to the Office of Residence Life in advance.
Housing Cancellation
Students that cancel their registration or housing after the housing selection process starts are subject to a progressive cancellation fee.
To cancel your application or your housing assignment for Fall 2024, complete the . The Office of Residence Life will confirm all information submitted with necessary campus partners before making a determination on the requested cancellation.
Gender-Neutral Housing
Gender-Neutral Housing refers to designated spaces in traditional and apartment-style residence halls that are open to all students, regardless of their gender or sex, during the room selection process. This means that any student can live with any other student, regardless of gender or sex. There is no application process.
Gender-Neutral Housing is not intended for romantic couples.
For the upcoming academic year, the below buildings/floors will be gender-neutral:
Gender-neutral spaces are designated as must-fill during the room selection process. You must confirm your roommate group prior to your room selection night. Please note, if you are in a roommate group with somebody who, per eRezLife, is a different gender or sex as you, you will only see available rooms in the above-listed gender-neutral spaces. Students should have multiple, predetermined roommate groups so they are able to see a variety of room types during room selection. If you only have a roommate group with mixed gender, and all gender-neutral spaces are taken, zero rooms/halls will display for you on selection night.
Medical Housing Accommodations Requests
Student Accessibility Services (SAS), Residence Life, and Physical Plant work together to ensure that students with disabilities have equal access to the college’s housing resources. Students interested in requesting housing accommodations should follow these in a timely manner. All requests are considered on a case-by-case basis.
Continuing students should complete this process by Friday, February 15, 2024, for fall semester housing. Housing accommodation requests submitted after this date will still be considered. However, students approved after the preferred date may need to be placed on a waitlist for a necessary housing assignment to become available.
Students who are not granted a disability-related housing accommodation, who choose not to accept the room offered as an accommodation, or who submit late requests should complete the standard room selection process through Residence Life.

Gender-Affirming Housing
ÌÇÐÄSwag College is committed to helping to make sure that all students have a community to live learn and thrive.
Gender-Affirming Housing (GAH) is available to support and affirm an individual's gender identity when it differs with the gender they were assigned at birth.
Gender-Affirming Housing allows students the opportunity to prioritize their needs. Gender-affirming housing assignments may include two or more students mutually agreeing to share a multiple-occupancy bedroom, studio, suite, or apartment regardless of students’ sex or gender.
Residence Life determines room assignments for all GAH preference requests based on availability.
Is Gender-Affirming Housing an accommodation?
No. Gender-Affirming Housing is a preference request a student submits for housing that best meets their housing needs. Accommodations are covered under The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), require documentation, and are processed through the Office of Student Accessibility Services.

Gender-Affirming Housing assignments are determined by Residence Life and are based on available spaces that best meet student’s needs. When a student is assigned to an apartment-style unit, Residence Life may assign ONE requested roommate/suitemate to the unit.
What if I do not like my tentative Gender-Affirming Housing assignment?
Students who decline the room offered as their Gender-Affirming Housing assignment will need to complete the standard room selection process through Residence Life.
I am interested in Gender-Neutral Housing. Do I need to complete the GAH preference request form?
No. Gender-Neutral Housing is available during room selections the week of April 1 for all who choose mixed-gender roommate groups, unless those rooms become filled prior to their selection time. Only students who need gender-affirming care should complete a GAH preference request form.
Are there specific Gender-Affirming Residence Halls?
Gender-Affirming Housing requests are not limited to specific buildings, allowing for flexibility in finding spaces that best meet students’ needs within the limited spaces on campus. Gender-Affirming housing assignments may be placed within Gender-Neutral Housing spaces.

Students Unable to Log into the System
If you are unable to log into the eRezLife system during your allotted time, you may designate a Proxy.
A Proxy is trusted friend that you identify and share your login information with and they will select a room for you.
Your Proxy will log in as you, at your designated time and select a space for you. Be sure your Proxy is aware of the type of space you prefer.
